  1. Tap Open Fieldcraft Heritage.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu, top right.
  3. Choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
iPhone · Safari
  1. Open the link in Safari.
  2. Tap Share (the square with an arrow — on newer iPhones it sits in the ••• menu).
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.

Your permissions, finds and photos are saved on the phone itself. Tap Settings → Back Up My Data now and then so you never lose them.

A cast copper-alloy mount with turned, baluster-style mouldings. The back is hollow with fixing spikes, so it was made to be fixed onto something as decoration. Green-brown patina from a few centuries in the plough soil.

Before you head out.

Is it really free?

Yes. No ads, no subscriptions, no sign-up, and no money ever comes to us. The only ask is that if it helps you, you consider giving something to charity.

Does it work with no signal?

Yes. Once it's on your home screen you can log finds, photos and notes with no signal at all. Maps and the weather forecast need a connection to load fresh.

Where are my finds kept?

On your phone, and nowhere else. Your permissions, finds, photos and locations are never sent to us. We can't see them.

Can I back it up, or move it to my laptop?

Yes. Tap Settings → Back Up My Data to save a backup file. You can restore it on a new phone or open it on your laptop for planning. Back up now and then, because clearing your browser's data for this site would wipe what's stored on the phone.

Is it on the Play Store or App Store?

Not at the moment. It runs in your phone's browser and you add it to your home screen, where it opens like any other app. See How to install.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. Open it in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

Privacy, in plain words

Fieldcraft Heritage keeps your permissions, finds, photos and locations on your phone. They are never sent to us. To show maps and weather, the app asks Mapbox and Open-Meteo for the area you're looking at. If you email us a find or a photo, we only use it for Find of the Month or the gallery, credited to you, and we never show where a find was made.
